I am happy to have found your blog. Terrific information! It reminds me of the time we detoured our route home to visit a graveyard for just this purpose. It just happened that that day was absolutely awful: driving ice cold rain and wind. We were miserable. The office gave us some new information. But really we will have to go back. Sadly it is hundreds of miles out of our way. That was not the purpose of the blog post. When writing a genealogical report we start with a question that is to be answered and we stay within that question. If we want to learn more then we compose another report/blog post to answer the new question. In this case the new question is - "what does ihs stand for?" And that is why it will be its own blog post.Lianne Krugerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03071362547598740752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6616752304501419748.post-35125822987070795742023-08-27T19:54:45.759-07:002023-08-27T19:54:45.759-07:00I didn't explain the "ihs" because t...I didn't explain the "ihs" because there is much more to it than just one item. Here is my citation from my research log for Thomas in 2021, which contains the link to where I found the explanation.
Cemetery Symbolism, blog IHS, https://cemeterysymbolism.wordpress.com/2012/12/03/ihs/, accessed Feb 6, 2021.
But since there was so much I left it out of here. I was going to do another blog sometime about this. "I also found out what the ihs on the top of the stone from a Cemetery Symbolism blog site." your do not share that this is an abbreviation of IHESUS which is the very old spelling of "Jesus".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6616752304501419748.post-21991365778176094872022-08-16T11:34:25.922-07:002022-08-16T11:34:25.922-07:00Thank you! I myself have missed family information because I did not look on the sides of a gravestone.
At one point, you wrote, "Inside the six pillars, were two other gravestone not mention by the city office or Find My Past." Did you mean Find My Past or did you mean Find A Grave, Websites should not have names that are so close to each other, right?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
