iFamily History: Getting Youth involved

One way to get youth involved could be with your videos. Do you have videos of family events that you would like a backup of and would like to share with other family members? Get the youth to help you.

Ask them to:

Create a YouTube account for you.
Upload your videos to YouTube.
Ask them to help you or show you how to share with family members.
Ask them to show you how to upload more.
Ask them to edit videos from past reunions and home videos.
Ask them to take videos at family reunions and gatherings.
Ask them to add music to the videos.
Ask to convert sounds from cassettes to mp3 or mp4

You can also ask them to convert out VHS tapes to digital files to prepare for uploading.

Genealogy

I researched my paternal grandmother's line to the first three white landowners of Canada in the 80's. I began genealogy going on genealogy trips in Ontario, England, and Scotland at graveyards with my mother starting at age 7 on. As a teenager, I sat in front of a microfilm reader with a list of names every Saturday at an FHL while my mother volunteered helping others.

I have spoken at Genealogical conferences and sessions at RootsTech (UT), FamilyRoots (UT), The Genealogy Show (in Birmingham, UK) as well as in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ogden, and Ontario.
